Livingston residents Denise Nevin and her daughter Chelsea Bowers are bringing together their talents and experience in a splendor of color with the opening of their new floral shop, Rooted in Montana. Walk-in customers will need to be patient since the store is not yet open for walk-in traffic due to finishing touches at the shop, Nevin said. The owners removed the awning from the front of the downtown brick building at 109 W. Callender St., adjacent to Sax and Fryer, and the sunshine poured in. Inside, renovation continues with wood floors and shelving and the addition of a cooler for the variety of fresh flowers. With the suspended ceiling removed, the historical feel of the original store is evident in the brick, large storefront windows, wood floor and high ceiling. Although the doors are not yet open and even the windows are masked, the pair is planning a grand opening in early June. Meanwhile, the store will be be open starting Wednesday for phone orders, with Mother’s Day coming up this Sunday. The interior renovation is being done with creative design by Bowers and support from her husband, Phillip Bowers. He said the original building burned and the current brick structure was built in 1910. Nevin brings 25 years of experience in the floral business, and Bowers, an experienced painter with an abundance of creative ideas, is seeing her ideas coming to fruition. “From floral bouquets, indoor house plants, succulents, fresh floral arrangements, we got everything,” including wedding services, Bowers said. In the works, said Bowers, are Montanathemed gifts. Bowers has a local painting business, Painting Paradise, which she will continue. A website for Rooted in Montana is under construction and the business can be found on Facebook and Instagram. Soon, the option to place orders on the internet will be available. Until then, place orders by calling 222-5464. Store hours are Monday- Friday, 10 a.m. to 6 p.m.; and Saturday, 10 a.m. to 2 p.m.
