The Yellowstone Gateway 30K running race is set for Sunday, Sept. 19.

The run goes through the hills and trails below Emigrant Peak in celebration of the Yellowstone Gateway Protection Act, a news release from organizers said.

The 18-mile, rugged foot race starts at Sage Lodge and runs private trails to Cemetery Road, then over to historic Old Chico and then heads way up Emigrant Gulch on Forest Service Roads. It crosses creeks and descends back to Old Chico, and runs the Chico Road back to the finish at Chico Hot Springs.

“Three miles of the course are on gravel roads that are open to traffic, so drivers and runners both need to be careful,” the release said.

Park County Environmental Council is the primary sponsor and any proceeds from the race go to the organization. Chico Hot Springs provides lunch and swim passes to all runners at the finish on the lawn. Prizes will be awarded to the top three male and female runners, and first-place male and female masters (40+).

Registration is open through the start time, which is 9 am. on Sunday Sept. 19. Register at Runsignup.com.
