Women of Wilsall’s St. Patrick’s Day dinner is Friday

The Women of Wilsall annual St. Patrick’s Day corned beef and cabbage dinner starts at 5 p.m. Friday, March 17, at the Wilsall school Multipurpose Room. There will be a silent pie auction. Free-will donations will be accepted, with all proceeds going to to help a community need.

 

Upcoming events

• The Shields Valley Senior Citizen potluck starts at 12:30 p.m. Thursday, March 16, at the Senior Center in Wilsall. There will be special music and readings. 

• A craft group meets at 2 p.m. Wednesday, March 22, at the Shields Valley Senior Center in Wilsall. 

• The Shields Valley School Board meets at 7:30 p.m. Wednesday, March 22, in the Wilsall school Multipurpose Room. 

• Shields Valley Parent Teacher Conferences will be held from 4 p.m. to 9 p.m. Thursday, March 23, at both schools.

• A bridal shower honoring Courtney Arthun is planned for 3 p.m. Sunday, March 26, at the Wilsall Dance Hall. 

 

Fire Department dinner

The annual Clyde Park City Volunteer Fire Department fundraiser dinner will be held Friday, March 31, at the Clyde Park Community Hall. Hors d’oeuvres start at 5 p.m. with dinner at 6 p.m. There will be a live auction with Jimbo Logan as auctioneer. Dinner choices are New York steak or salmon for cost of $30 per person.

Kindergarten screening

The Shields Valley Public School will hold a kindergarten screening and registration from 8 a.m. to 10 a.m. Thursday, April 6, at the Wilsall elementary school Multipurpose Room. Children in the Shields Valley School District who will be 5 years old on or before Sept. 10, 2017, are invited to take part. 

To schedule an appointment time, call the school office at 578-2535. Anyone planning to enroll a child in the fall but is unable to attend the screening should inform the school as soon as possible.

 

Church news

On Sunday, March 19, there will be no service at Shields Valley United Methodist Church in Clyde Park. The four Park County United Methodist churches will meet at 11 a.m. at Holbrook United Methodist Church, located at Fifth and Lewis streets in Livingston. There will be a potluck dinner following the service.

 

Club news

• The Shields Valley Book Club meets at 1:30 p.m. Monday, March 20, at Shields River Lutheran Church in Wilsall. The book being discussed this month is “The Power of the Dog” by Thomas Savage.

 

Cards

Wilsall Women’s Pinochle Club met Monday afternoon at the Shields Valley Senior Center. Prize winners were Dorothy Lucas, high; Rosie Queen, low; and Georgia Hogenson, traveling.

 

School schedule

• March 18: The grand march of the school prom starts at 7 p.m.

• March 20: Junior high parent/athlete meeting is at 5:30 p.m. in Clyde Park.

• March 22: The school board meets at 7:30 p.m. at the Wilsall school. 

• March 22-25: The State FFA Convention is in Great Falls.

• March 23: Parent Teacher Conferences are from 4 p.m. to 9 p.m.
