The Park High Rangers got their second win of the season Tuesday night against the Laurel Locomotives, 65-57.
The Rangers got going early, putting out a whopping 21-8 lead after one behind sophomore Abby Kokot’s nine first-quarter points. They kept their foot on the gas through the rest of the first half and went into the locker room at half up 32-19.
The second half saw Laurel come out strong and cut into the lead, out-scoring Park 38-33. The Rangers held on, though, thanks to their clutch free throw shooting in the fourth quarter, where they went 13-of-18 from the line, with freshman guard Kodie Vondra hitting 7-of-10.
Vondra led all scorers with 19, 13 of which came in the second half. Kokot finished with 16 and senior guard Larissa Saarel added 12.
For Laurel, junior Aspen Cotter had 16 points, Riley Chapman had 13 and Kaitlyn Dawes had nine.
Park improves to 2-3 on the year and will finish off its home stand Thursday against Beaverhead County at 4 p.m.
