Volunteering to be a mentor will impact a child’s life

Editor:

I’d like to thank The Livingston Enterprise for publishing the article about Big Brothers Big Sisters last week. It is always nice to see and celebrate the positive things happening in our community. However, I would like to point out one correction from the article. Big Brothers Big Sisters programs work with children ages 5 to 18, not just children ages 5 to 8 like the article stated.

Children in our evidence-based programs are more confident, more likely to steer clear of drugs and alcohol, do better in school, get along better with their family and friends and feel better about themselves. Through our four programs (in the community and in the schools) we have 23 children on our waiting list. Volunteering to be a mentor will change the life of a child right here in Livingston.
