Volunteer fire department to host fundraiser, dinner

The annual Clyde Park City Volunteer Fire Department fundraiser dinner is Friday, March 31, at the Clyde Park Community Hall. Hors d’oeuvres start at 5 p.m. with dinner at 6 p.m. There will be a live auction with Jimbo Logan as auctioneer. Music by the Knotty Pine Band will perform from 5 p.m. to 8 p.m. Dinner choices are prime rib or salmon for cost of $30 per person. Reservations should be requested by Thursday, March 30. Pioneer Dinner
The annual dinner dance of the Park County Pioneer Society is scheduled for 6 p.m. Saturday, April 8, at the Park County Fairgrounds in Livingston. Tickets will be sold from 9:30 a.m. to noon Monday, April 3, at Val’s Deli in Wilsall and at the same time Tuesday, April 4, at  Shields Valley Hardware in Clyde Park. Tickets may also be reserved by calling Lou Ann Skattum at 222-2125 by Thursday,  April 6.

Upcoming events
• The Shields Valley Public School will hold a kindergarten screening and registration from 8 a.m. to 10 a.m. Thursday, April 6, at the Wilsall elementary school multipurpose room. Children in the Shields Valley School District who will be five-years-old on or before Sept. 10, 2017, are invited to take part. To schedule an appointment time, call the school office at 578-2535. Anyone planning to enroll a child in the fall but is unable to attend the screening, please inform the school as soon as possible.    
• Shields River Lutheran Women’s monthly Bible Study meets at 9 a.m. Saturday, April 1, at the church in Wilsall.

Notice of death
Word has been received of the March 20 death of Richard “Dick” Rennie, 79, of Boulder. He was the son of the late Joe and Agnes Rennie. He attended grade school in Wilsall. The memorial service will be at 2 p.m. Tuesday, April 4, at the fairgrounds in Boulder. He is survived by his wife Dixie, three children, and a brother Wallace “Dude” Rennie of Dundee, Oregon.

Club news
• The Clyde Park Women’s Club met March 28 at the home of Becky Amunrud. Their main topic of discussion was the annual Easter Egg Hunt scheduled for 1 p.m. Saturday, April 8, at Holliday Park in Clyde Park. It is for children ages zero to four and five to eight. They also did the prep work for the event.
• The Women of Shields River Lutheran Church met Sunday following the church service. They discussed the coming events for the next several months.

• Wilsall Women’s Pinochle Club met Monday afternoon at the Shields Valley Senior Center. Prize winners were Georgia Hogenson, high; Betty Burdette, low; and Linda Wilson, traveling.
• Winners of the March 28 Senior Citizens card party were Marge Briggs, first; Jean Skillman, second; Marie Smith, low; and Georgia Hogenson, traveling.

Guests, visits
Marvin Goffena of Stevensville was a Friday overnight guest of his mother, Erma Goffena, while visiting friends and family in the area.

School schedule    
• April 1: The high school track team participates in the Lewistown meet starting at 10 a.m.
• April 6: Kindergarten screening is from 8 a.m. to 10 a.m. at the Wilsall school.
