Mark’s In & Out employee Geri Hooton, left, and owner Scott Black prepare for lunch on their second day of business this season, Thursday on Park Street. The menu in the photograph dates back to the 1960s, Black said.

Alight dusting of snow that melts by 9:30 a.m., the robin’s song outside the window and the scent of beef patties wafting along Park Street means not only that spring is here but also that Mark’s In & Out is open for business.

The drive-up hamburger stand is in its 65th season this year, opening a week later than usual due to a harsher winter, owner Scott Black said.

Black said he has 30 employees this season — 23 returning and seven new.

Hefty lines formed for the Wednesday opening day of the business.

Most popular on the Mark’s In & Out menu is the Super Cheeseburger, Black said.

The restaurant is open 11 a.m. to 8 p.m. seven days a week, with the closing time extended to 9 p.m. in May and 10 p.m. in June.
