State report of local virus death was an error, health officials say

A report of a COVID-19 death in Park County on the state of Montana’s COVID-19 case map was an error, according to the Park County Health Department.

There have not been any deaths attributed to COVID-19 in Park County, Health Department Communications Specialist Molly O’Neill said Thursday.

“Let’s hope it stays that way,” O’Neill said.

Park County reported 26 new COVID-19 cases Thursday, according to the state of Montana, the highest daily increase in confirmed cases so far during the pandemic.

The previous high, 19 cases, was reported Tuesday.

There are now 185 active COVID-19 cases in Park County, according to the state, and there have been 394 total confirmed cases in the county so far during the pandemic.

Overall, Montana reported 962 new COVID-19 cases Thursday, and has reported 43,031 total confirmed cases.

There are 17,755 confirmed active COVID-19 cases in Montana, according to the state, and there have been 472 deaths in Montana attributed to COVID-19.
