Shields Valley students graduate, end school year

Shields Valley seniors who graduated Sunday are Natalie Blum, Samantha Brandal, Finlee Bullard, Cheyenne Darkow, Ashley George, Triston Hansen, Colton Jones, Zane Lannen, Brock Peterson, Angel Spencer, Devin Stallard Connor Upton, Quentin Willis and Mitchell Zepeda.

Cheyenne Darkow, class president, gave the welcome address. The Salutatorian address was given by Samantha Brandal and the Valedictorian address by Brock Peterson.

Shields Valley students graduating from the eighth grade Sunday are Hannah Butler, Ashtin Chambers, Gweneth Collins, Julianna Croston, Zachary Danielson, Jordan Henson, Aidan Jenkins, Kayla Johnson, Reace Lannen, Colton Leahy, Hazen Marshall, Nikki Robinson Finn Sexton, Raeann Shockey and Sage Willis.

Club notes

• The Wilsall Vets Club and Auxiliary will be looking for help to put up the flags at the cemetery at 8 a.m. Friday, May 26. Coffee and cinnamon rolls will be served at the Old Wilsall Hardware Deli, also known as Val’s, following the flag raising. The flags will be taken down at 8 a.m. Tuesday, May 30. Anyone wanting a cross put up in the avenue of flags for a military loved one should contact Leslie at 578-2053.

Vet’s Club secretary Stan Urban says, “It is time to check your flags to see if they need to be replaced.”

Some of the flags flying around town are beginning to look tattered. To properly dispose of old flags, bring them to Urban and he will see to having that done.

• In the list of FFA officers last week Bill Heath, sentinel, was omitted. This correspondent regrets that error.

• The Brackett Creek Women’s Club met May 17 at the home of Sally Taylor with eight members and one guest present. Dues were collected. It was mentioned that the Little Library doors need to be refinished. D’Neal Parker and Kay Hays picked up trash along Brackett Creek Road and noted that none of the library books had been thrown away. It was reported that the card fronts have been mailed to St. Jude’s Children’s Hospital and canceled stamps to New York for kids camps. Sonja Loesser will host the summer picnic at a date to be announced. The next regular meeting will be Sept. 20 at either Doe Stafford’s or Wilma Bogar’s. The Oct. 18 meeting will be at the home of Judy Watson. They also talked about possible programs for the coming year. Raspberry shortcake was served. The door prize, a bouquet of fresh picked daffodils, went to D’Neal Parker.


Wilsall Women’s Pinochle Club met Monday afternoon at the Shields Valley Senior Center. Prize winners were Marie Smith, high; Mary Sarver, low; and Linda Wilson, traveling.
Guests, visits

• Dennis and Jodi Wilson traveled to White Sulphur Springs Sunday to visit Donna Sue Wilson.

• Stuart and Shelley Swandal of Walcott, North Dakota, were Sunday afternoon callers at the home of June Miller.

• Mike Wilson of Anchorage, Alaska, and works in Saudi Arabia visited his uncle and aunt, Dennis and Jodi Wilson, Monday afternoon.
