Science fair set for Thurs.

The Shields Valley Elementary School Science Fair starts at 6:30 p.m. Thursday, March 5, in the school gym.


‘Pennies for Patients’

“Pennies for Patients” is going on at the Shields Valley Schools March 2-20. The  teacher will have money sacks in their rooms. Bring your coins and dollars and deposit them in a sack for the fund raiser for the cure of blood cancer, leukemia and lymphoma. The money is used for research for the cure of blood cancer.  


Commissioner visit

County Commissioner Clint Tinsley will meet with folks at 9 a.m. Friday, March 6, at the Old Wilsall Hardware Deli, also known as Val’s, in Wilsall. 


Church news

• Shields River Lutheran Women’s monthly Bible Study meets at 9 a.m. Saturday, March 7, at the church in Wilsall.

• Through Lent there will be soup suppers with worship at 6 p.m. Wednesdays, starting tonight, March 4, and going through Wednesday, April 1, at Shields River Lutheran Church in Wilsall.

• There will be a service of praise during the 9 a.m. worship Sunday, March 8, at Shields River Lutheran Church in Wilsall.


Build a Better Wilsall

Build a Better Wilsall Foundation meets at 6:30 p.m. Monday, March 9, at the Shields Valley Senior Center. 


School Board

The Shields Valley School Board meets at 7:30 p.m. Wednesday, March 11, at the Wilsall school Multipurpose Room. 


School elections

Shields Valley School District has two three-year term school board trustee positions open in 2020. Candidates must be qualified to vote in the district and be a resident of the school district. Anyone wishing to be  placed on the trustee ballot at the May school election may pick up the necessary forms from the District Clerk Rhonda Lahaye at the Wilsall school. 

All forms must be signed and filed with the Clerk of the District by Mar. 26, 2020. For more information and to have questioned answered, call Rhonda Lahaye at 578-2535. The election will be May 5, 2020.


Club news

• The Women of Wilsall met Monday evening at the home of Kathy Williams. They discussed the plans for the annual St. Patty’s Day dinner at 5 p.m. Tuesday, March 17, at the Shields Valley Senior Center at 208 Elliot Street North (Highway 89) in Wilsall. Note this is at a different location than they usually use. There will be the usual pie silent auction. The money from this event will go to help Dalton Evans with medical expenses. 

• The Wilsall Vets Club and Auxiliary held their monthly potluck dinner meeting and card party Monday at the Shields Valley Senior Center. 



Winners of the March 3 Senior Citizens card party were Betty Burdette, first; Jean Landers, second; Marge Briggs, low; and Marie Smith, traveling.
