Shields Valley Star Students for February are: 

Kindergarten-Bella Laubach; first grade-Isabeau Jenkins and Ollivia Morrison; second grade-Waylon Dunkel; third grade-Brycen Hogenson, Gwen Jackson and Vyke Schaak; fourth grade-Andrew Long, Tayla Roberts and Kale Rock; fifth grade-Lucy Cleveland, Wyatt Dunkel and Gaige Taylor; and sixth grade-Beau Holliday, Clansey Pinson and Teah Vennes. 

 

Science Fair

The Shields Valley Elementary School Science Fair starts at 6 p.m. Thursday, March 5, in the school gym.

 

Church news

Ash Wednesday worship is at 7 p.m. Today, Feb. 26, at Shields River Lutheran Church in Wilsall. Wednesdays, starting March 4 through April 1 there will be soup and worship at 6 p.m.

 

Club news

• The Wilsall Wranglers 4-H Club meeting is at 2 p.m. Sunday, March 1, at the Wilsall School multipurpose room.  

• The Brackett Creek Women’s Club met Feb. 19 at the home of Kay Hays. There were 10 members present and due were collected. The club will purchase a new sign for Skunk Creek Road. The March 18 meeting will be at the home of Judy Watson. Three members who attended a four-night program about Montana history, tourism, etc. brought hand-outs from the class. They played a game where phrases were give as clues to the names of 61 Montana towns. Refreshments were served. Wilm Bogar won the weathered wood scented candle door prize. 

 

Cards

• The Cottonwood Pinochle Club met Feb. 19 at the Catholic Church Hall in Clyde Park with Bill and Shirley Sager, Terry and Tom Sarrazin and Bob and Nancy Queen  as hosts. Prize winners were Karon Forkus, ladies’ high; Joyce Keyes, ladies’ low; Tony Bailey, men’s high; Jim Taylor, men’s low; and Sarah Leyde, door prize. 

• Wilsall Women’s Pinochle Club met Monday afternoon at the Shields Valley Senior Center. Prize winners were Linda Wilson, high; Jean Landers, low; and Betty Burdette, traveling.   

• Winners of the Feb. 25. Senior Citizens card party were Jean Landers, first; Betty Burdette, second; and Marge Briggs, low. 

 

 School schedule

• Feb. 27: There is no school.

• March 5: The Science Fair at the elementary school is at 6:30 p.m.
