Quilting clinic

There will be a quilting clinic at 10 a.m. Friday, Jan. 31, at Shields River Lutheran Church. For more information and what to bring, call Patti at 578-2134.

 

Church news

• Shields River Lutheran Women’s monthly Bible Study meets at 9 a.m. Saturday, Feb. 1, at the church in Wilsall.

• All four Park County United Methodist Churches-Shields Valley, Pine Creek, Grace and Holbrook-will have a joint worship service at 11 a.m. Sunday, Feb. 2, at Grace at 302 South 9th Street in Livingston.

• The second session of Bible Club, sponsored by Child Evangelism Fellowship of Montana and hosted by the Wilsall Community Church, will meet from 4:15 p.m. to 5:30 p.m. every Wednesday for six weeks starting Feb. 12 in Wilsall at the Shields Valley Elementary School in the art room of the white building. Boys and girls in kindergarten through sixth grade are welcome. All new students — those who didn’t attend the first session — need to complete a registration form before attending. These forms are available from Miss Pigman, the art teacher, or call coordinator Janet Clark at 578-2327. Forms may also be picked up at the Wilsall Community Church or the Shields Valley Bible Church in Clyde Park.

• This year at the annual missions quilting week at Shields River Lutheran Church in Wilsall, 63 quilts were completed with 17 ladies from three counties helping. A big thank-you goes to all who had a part in this project. The finished quilts are given to the Montana Rescue Mission, Shodair Children’s Hospital, the Shrine Hospital, fire victims, local needs, Disaster Response and World Hunger Appeal of the Evangelical Lutheran Church of America, and more.

 

Books for Bikes

The Books for Bikes program for Shields Valley Elementary students starts Tuesday, Feb. 4, and runs through Tuesday, Feb. 18, when bikes and books will be given away.

In the program, students read books to earn certificates for free books and a chance to win a bicycle. The books and bikes will be given at two assemblies in the Wilsall gym Tuesday, Feb.

18. Kindergarten through third grade assembly is at 9 a.m. and fourth through sixth grade at 10:30 a.m.

This event is sponsored by the Masonic Lodge of Wilsall and the Women of Wilsall.

 

Club news

The Wilsall Wranglers 4-H Club meeting is at 2 p.m. Sunday, Feb. 2, at the Wilsall School multipurpose room.

 

Cards

Wilsall Women’s Pinochle Club met Monday afternoon at the home of Georgia Hogenson. Prize winners were Georgia Hogenson, high; Mary Sarver, second; Jean Landers, low; and Betty Burdette, traveling.

 

School schedule

Jan. 31: The high school basketball teams start playing with the girls junior varsity at 2:30 p.m. at Lone Peak.

Feb. 1: The high school basketball teams start playing against Roberts with the boys junior varsity at 5:30 p.m. and girls Varsity at 7 p.m. in Clyde Park. The junior high boys basketball team plays the White Sulphur Springs Tournament.

Feb. 4: The elementary and junior high boys basketball teams play at 4 p.m. in Big Timber.
