The top four winners of the Shields Valley Spelling Bee will participate in the County Spelling Bee at 1 p.m. Wednesday, Feb. 21 at the Dulcie Theatre in the Shane Lalani Center for the Arts in Livingston. The State Spelling Bee is March 17 in Billings and the National Spelling Bee in May 29-31.

Events

• County Commissioner Clint Tinsley will be in Shields Valley Friday, Feb. 2. From 8:30 a.m. until 9:30 a.m. he will be at Old Wilsall Hardware Deli and from 10 a.m. until 10:30 a.m. he will be at the Town Hall in Clyde Park.

• A bake sale benefit for Chuck Dallas is planned from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. Saturday, Feb. 3, at the multipurpose room at the Wilsall School. Free will donations will be accepted for the baked goods. Pie and coffee will also be available. This event is sponsored by the Mountain View Co-op in White Sulphur Springs.

• A chili dinner fundraiser for the Myhre Family is planned to start at 5 p.m. Saturday, Feb. 10 at the Shields Valley Senior Center. The menu includes chili, corn bread, rolls, cinnamon rolls, brownies, water and coffee. The event, sponsored by the Shields Valley Girls Scouts, will help the family with medical and travel expenses in Billings and Denver.

• Shields River Lutheran Women’s monthly Bible Study meets at 9 a.m. Saturday, Feb. 3, at the church in Wilsall.

• The Shields Valley United Methodist Church meets for worship at 3 p.m. Sunday, Feb. 4. Other weeks they will be at their regular time of 5 p.m.

• The Shields River Lutheran men will hold a waffle supper starting at 5 p.m. Wednesday, Feb. 7, at the church in Wilsall.

• The Wilsall Wranglers 4-H meeting is at 4 p.m. Sunday, Feb. 4, at the Wilsall School multipurpose room.

• The Books for Bikes program for Shields Valley Elementary students started Tuesday, Feb. 6, and runs through Tuesday, Feb. 20, when bikes and books will be given away. Students read books to earn certificates for free books and a chance to win a bicycle. The books and bikes will be given at two assemblies in the Wilsall gym Tuesday, Feb. 20. Kindergarten through third grade assembly is at 9 a.m. and fourth through sixth grade at 10:30 a.m.

This event is sponsored by the Masonic Lodge of Wilsall and the Women of Wilsall.

School Schedule

Feb. 1: The high school basketball teams play Manhattan Christian starting with the girls junior varsity at 2:30 p.m. in Clyde Park. This is senior night.

Feb. 2: The high school basketball teams play in Townsend staring with the girls junior varsity at 3 p.m. The junior high girls basketball teams play White Sulphur Springs starting at 4:15 p.m. in Clyde Park. The elementary girls basketball teams play in the Manhattan Christian Tournament with Shields Valley to start playing at noon.

Feb. 3: The junior high girls basketball teams play in the White Sulphur Springs Tournament. The elementary girls basketball teams play White Sulphur Springs starting with the fifth grade at 10 a.m. in Wilsall.

Feb. 5: The FFA students are at the Melstone Sales and Mechanics competition.

Feb. 6: The elementary and junior high girls basketball teams start playing at 4 p.m. in Big Timber.
