Shields Valley Health Center to close its doors; LHC to step in

The Shields Valley Health Center will close its doors on April 30, but a new provider, Livingston HealthCare, will open shortly thereafter.

The center, located in Wilsall, has been in operation since 2008, according to a news release from LHC. LHC expects to begin offering medical services in the SVHC location in mid-May.

The new clinic, Livingston HealthCare Clinic in Shields Valley, will have the potential to bring more services to the community, such as expanded lab draw services and additional visiting specialists, including pediatrics and orthopedics, the LHC news release said. LHC will also continue to provide rehabilitation services in the clinic.

“Sue Scott and the Shields Valley Health Center have provided a valuable service to the community and we are honored to build off of that foundation to provide more services locally in Shields Valley,” LHC Medical Director Dr. Scott Coleman said in the release.

Sue Scott is a nurse practitioner who founded the SVHC. She was not available for comment by press time Thursday.

In addition to Scott, the health center employed an office manager. LHC spokeswoman Rebekah Stoner could not address today whether the office manager would be offered a position in the new clinic.

To answer the public’s questions about the change, LHC staff will host a community discussion at 4 p.m. on Wednesday, April 15, at the Shields Valley Community Hall. LHC CEO Bren Lowe and Coleman will lead the meeting.
