Shields Valley girls beat West Yellowstone

Shields Valley girls basketball has a winning record for the first time since Dec. 22 after beating the West Yellowstone Wolverines Friday, 56-33. 
The Rebels got off to a fast start, taking an early 19-6 lead after the first quarter. The Wolverines kept pace in the second quarter, but still went into halftime down 33-17. 
Shields Valley put together another big quarter in the third, outscoring West Yellowstone 14-8 to extends its lead to 22. That was more than enough for Shields Valley to close out the fourth quarter and walk away with a 26-point win. 
Shields Valley finished with three players in double figures, led by Jen Fairchild’s 16 points on 6-of-18 shooting. Right behind her was Molly Engle with 15 points on 5-of-9 shooting to go with eight rebounds. Marissa Marshall also had 10 points on 5-of-9 from the floor. 
The Rebels are now 6-5, their first winning record since being 3-2 back on Dec. 22. They have won two straight games by wide margins, with Friday’s 26-point win coming on the heels of beating Gardiner Thursday by 29. 
The Rebels will look to keep the ball rolling with a 2-game road trip where they play Lone Peak Thursday and Roberts Friday.
