Kindergarten screening is April 4

The Shields Valley Public School will hold a kindergarten screening and registration from 8 a.m. to 10 a.m. Thursday, April 4, at the Wilsall elementary school multipurpose room.

Children in the Shields Valley School District who will be 5 years old on or before Sept. 10, 2019, are invited to take part. To schedule an appointment time, call the school office at 578-2535. Anyone planning to enroll a child in the fall but is unable to attend the screening should inform the school as soon as possible.

Pioneer Banquet

The annual Park County Pioneer Banquet is at 6 p.m. Saturday, April 6, at the Park County Fairgrounds. Tickets will be on sale in Shields Valley from 9:30 a.m. until noon Monday, April 1, at the Old Wilsall Hardware Deli, also known as Val’s, and Tuesday, April 2, at the Shields Valley Hardware in Clyde Park.

Star Students

Shields Valley Star Students for March are: kindergarten-Isabeau Jenkins; first grade-Marty Shane and Mason Taylor; second grade-Jack Gilbert and Jasper Johnstone; third grade-Bodie Bullard and Lily Inmon; fourth grade-Lucy Cleveland, Liam Dean and Everly Sarrazin; fifth grade-Kale Chambers, Anna Collins and Levi Danielson; sixth grade-Mackenzie DeFord.

Church news

James Jeong of Bozeman will be the guest speaker at the 10:45 morning worship service Sunday, March 31, at the Wilsall Community

Club news

The Brackett Creek Women’s Club met March 20 at the home of Tess Jones with seven members present. Card fronts and box tops were turned in. Kay Hays reported that a box for collecting box tops has been put in the Little Library along Brackett Creek Road. Kay Hays gave a program about her life history of being raised Hungarian. Her parents moved to the United States after World War II where her dad taught at Northwestern University. Kay played soccer in college and coached soccer for 25 years. Her husband’s job brought them to Montana.

Refreshments were served. The door prize of three hand painted greeting cards went home with Kay Hays. The April 17 meeting will be at the home of Kay Hays.

Cards

The Clyde Park Bridge Club met March. 20 at Clyde Park Tavern and Cafe. with Bob Eyman as host. Prize winners were Kathy DeBoer, high; and Ken DeBoer, bingo.

School schedule

• April 3-6: The State FFA Convention is in Bozeman.

• April 4: Kindergarten screenings are from 8 a.m. to 10 a.m. at the Wilsall school.
