Rodeo Bible Camp and a shopping center open house upcoming

Rodeo Bible Camp, sponsored by the Wilsall Community Church and free, will be held Friday, June 23, through Sunday, June 25, at 153 North Fork Horse Creek Road seven miles east of Wilsall. The pre kindergarten, age four, through third grade day camp is from 8:45 a.m. to 12:45 p.m. Children are to be picked up at the camp Friday and Saturday. The fourth through sixth grade is an overnight camp. It starts with registration from 8 a.m. to 9:30 a.m. Friday. Registration is the same time for the younger children.

There will be mutton bustin’, horse riding, singing, dummy roping, goat roping, food, steer riding, Bible lessons, barrel racing and more. The camp ends with a church service at 10 a.m. Sunday followed by lunch and rodeo performance. It is advised to bring a chair.

Open House

An Open House will be held Wednesday, June 14, at Glenn’s Shopping Center in Clyde Park to celebrate the first year of ownership by Sydney Wiley and David Papadopoulos. Stop in for $2 Kahlua-style barbecue pork or turkey sandwiches, product samples, prize drawings and more. Donate a dry or canned item to the food bank box and receive a discount coupon. Look for our weekly ad flyer for week-long anniversary specials. Proceeds from the sandwiches will be donated to the Shields Valley Farmers Market, FFA and 4-H Clubs.

New Summer Hours at Glenn’s Shopping Center are from 8 a.m. to 8 p.m. Sunday through Saturday

Events    

• The Shields Valley United Methodist Church will hold their regular worship service at 9 a.m. Sunday, June 11, in Clyde Park and then join in the noon Bon Voyage celebration for Fred and Mary Amborn at Grace United Methodist Church on Ninth Street in Livingston. Barbecue pork sandwiches will be provided. Attendees are asked to bring salads and hot dishes.

• Build a Better Wilsall Foundation meeting is at 6 p.m. Monday, June 12, at the Shields Valley Senior Center in Wilsall.

• The Shields Valley School Board meets at 7:30 p.m. Wednesday, June 14,at the Wilsall school multipurpose room.

• The Park County CattleWomen are sponsoring a Beef for Father’s Day drawing at Glenn’s Shopping Center in Clyde Park, the Gardiner Market and Town and Country Foods in Livingston. $25 certificates for beef will be given in Clyde Park and Gardiner with two given at Town and Country Foods.

• The Shields Valley Senior Citizen potluck starts at 12:30 p.m. Thursday, June 15, at the senior center in Wilsall. Someone from the Bank of the Rockies will be there to have conversations about “Protecting Our Aging Treasures” on this World Health Organization World Elder Abuse Awareness Day.

Memorials

A graveside memorial service for Carol Ann Frame Steele, 68, will be held at 2 p.m. Saturday, June 17, at the Wilsall Cemetery with a time of remembering and fellowship following at Vets Park in Wilsall. She died March 23, 2016.

Club notes

• The Wilsall Vets Club held their monthly potluck meeting and card party at the Shields  Valley Senior Center Monday evening.

• The Vets Auxiliary elected Linda Wilson president and Leslie Chambers secretary-treasurer.

• The Women of Wilsall met  Monday evening at the home of Arlene Gee. They discussed the rodeo food, parade and Grand Marshall vehicle. They had one Scholarship application, so will continue to take applications until June 30. They also went over their parade float and finalized a work schedule for concessions.
