The Shields Valley Rebels basketball teams had trouble in the fourth quarter in losses against the Absarokee Huskies on Saturday in Absarokee. The girls lost 30-25 and the boys lost 49-40.

Offense was at a premium from the early-goings on Saturday as the Lady Rebels lost 30-25 in a low-scoring game.

Both teams struggled to find a rhythm on offense as Absarokee led 5-4 at the end of the first quarter. Tyler DeFord had all four of the Lady Rebels’ points in the quarter.

Shields Valley was able to outscore the Huskies 6-4 in the second and take a 10-9 halftime lead into the locker room. In addition to another basket from DeFord, Brooklin Baukol and Aspen Sanderson also found the bottom of the net for the Lady Rebels.

Shields Valley’s offense finally broke through in the third. The lady Rebels scored 11 points in the quarter with four points from DeFord and Jaeli Jenkins, each, and a 3-pointer from Haven Sager. The Lady Rebels defense kept the pace and Shields Valley took a 21-17 lead into the fourth.

Unfortunately for Shields Valley, the offensive momentum didn’t continue into the fourth. The Lady Rebels managed just four points in the quarter while Absarokee found their rhythm on the other end. The Huskies outscored the Lady Rebels 13-4 in the final period to secure the win.

DeFord finished the game with 10 points while Haven Sager added five. Jenkins and Baukol added four apiece.

The Rebels took the floor after the girls and, much like the girls, struggled in the fourth quarter as Absarokee won, 49-40.

The Rebels came out strong in the first quarter behind Aidan Jenkins’ six points. Asbarokee was able to keep pace with Shields Valley, but the Rebels led 14-13 at the end of one.

The offense dwindled in the second for the Rebels despite another six points from Jenkins. Absarokee stayed the course on the offensive end and built a 24-22 lead at halftime.

The teams were evenly matched in the third quarter with neither team gaining much ground. It was anyone’s game as they entered the fourth with Absarokee in the lead, 32-31.

The Huskies blew the game open in the fourth quarter with 17 points on offense. The Rebels couldn’t keep up and managed just nine. The Huskies wound up on top, 49-40.

Jenkins scored 20 points to lead all scorers. Kaden Acosta and Dylan Flatt tallied seven apiece and Cole Flatt added six. The four players accounted for all of the Rebels’ offensive output.
