Rebel boys fall to White Sulphur Springs, Harlowton

The Shields Valley boys went 0-2 over the weekend, losing to the White Sulphur Springs Hornets on Friday, 44-41, and losing to the Harlowton Engineers Saturday, 41-37.
The Rebels got off to a slow start against the Hornets, but eventually cut the lead to six going into halftime. With both teams scoring eight points in the third quarter, White Sulphur Springs held off Shields Valley late in the fourth and took home a 3-point win. 
Sage McMinn led the Rebels in scoring with 14, followed by Arik Ayers and Hunter Green Hunter Greenfield with nine and eight points, respectively. The Hornet’s Clayton Dawson led all scorers with 17. 
Shields Valley was in another close game Saturday against Harlowton, being down 18-11 going into halftime. Shields stormed out to a 28-24 lead thanks to a 17-point showing in the third quarter, but weren’t able to hold on and Harlowton outscored Shields Valley 17 to nine to take a four-point win. 
Ayers led all scorers with 18 points, followed by McMinn with 12. James Lane led the Engineers with 12. 
Shields Valley falls to 1-9 on the year and will look to rebound Thursday versus Gardiner.
