Rebecca (Lewis) Foster, 80, of Livingston, departed this life on Tuesday, Nov. 5, 2019 in Bozeman, Montana.

Becky, as she was known to her friends, was born Sept. 17, 1939 in Staunton, Virginia. She grew up in that state and eventually went to work in Washington, D.C. In 1968 she married and moved to Colorado Springs, Colorado, where she gave birth to her two children. After a divorce, she became a single parent and went to work for Colorado Springs School District 11 as head elementary secretary. While in that position, she met and married John Foster, a teacher in the district. When both retired in 1996, they moved to Livingston to enjoy the fishing, the beautiful country and an unhurried life in a small, friendly town.

Becky made many friends in Livingston and managed the farmer’s market for several years. She was known to many in our town not by name but by her red ’76 Pontiac convertible. A tour of the town in that car was mandatory for her out-of-town visitors.

Becky suffered from heart and lung problems. After returning from a visit to Colorado, in June her condition worsened. In spite of the best efforts of her caregivers, she was unable to regain her health and early Saturday morning suffered cardiac arrest on her way to Bozeman Deaconess Hospital. She passed peacefully with her husband and two children by her side.

Becky is survived by her daughter, Elizabeth Mayo, of Monument, Colorado; her son, Grant Arnold, of Oahu, Hawaii; her husband, John Foster, of Livingston; and four granddaughters, Carissa and Kaelin Mayo of Monument, Colorado, and Ama and Lani Arnold, of Oahu, Hawaii.

Remembrances will be held privately.
