Public Works starts up spring cleaning in May

May is the time for spring cleaning in Livingston and public works department is assisting locals with process.

During the first week in May, the department will be picking up clean up items near the trash bins in the boulevards or alleyways. Pick up will begin in the South side of town heading east to west and then onto the North side of town, heading west to east, according the public works release.

Crews will not come back for any items put out after the pick up date.

Items that can be trashed include dirt, rocks, concrete, boards, wood and sheetrock, as well as carpet, windows, sinks or toliets and yard waste.

Items that will not be picked up are  demolition waste, cars, car parts, and furniture, as well as appliances, air conditioning units, paint cans, paper or plastic bags, boxes and mattresses.

Green can collection will begin May 2. Cans will only be picked up from the street. Garbage, dirt, and rocks are not allowed in the green cans. Pick up day is Tuesday and any leftover will be picked up Thursday, according to the release.
