From open house to various meetings, lots on tap in Shields

Following is a list of upcoming community events in Shields Valley:

• Shields Valley Schools Open House will be from 6:30 p.m. to 8 p.m. Thursday, Sept. 8, at the elementary school in Wilsall.

• Build a Better Wilsall Foundation meets at 6 p.m. Monday, Sept. 12,  at the Shields Valley Senior Center in Wilsall.

• The Shields Valley FFA Alumni meets at 6:30 p.m. Tuesday, Sept. 13,  in the Ag room of the high school in Clyde Park. 

• The Shields Valley Senior Citizens potluck dinner starts at 12:30 p.m. Thursday, Sept. 15, at the Senior Center in Wilsall. There will be special music and readings. 

 

Church news

• “The Red Sea to the Jordan River” is the name of the Bible study starting at 7 p.m. Tuesday, Sept. 13, at the Wilsall Community Church. The 30-week study will cover the Bible books of Exodus and Numbers, showing God’s faithfulness as he moves the Israelites from slavery in Egypt and establishes them as a new nation in the Promised Land. It meets every Tuesday evening.  The registration cost is $35, with scholarships available. For more information, call Joan Sinnard at 578-2063 or Carolyn Devoto at 578-2274.

• The United Methodist Churches of Park County — Shields Valley, Grace, Holbrook and Pine Creek — will hold their annual combined worship followed with a potluck dinner at 10:30 a.m. Sunday, Sept. 11, at Luccock Park near the Pine Creek Campground.

 

Club news

The Wilsall Vets Club held its monthly potluck meeting and card party at the Shields  Valley Senior Center Monday evening. 

 

Cards

Winners of the Sept. 6 Senior Citizens card party were Jean Landers, first; Georgia Hogenson, second; and Betty Burdette, low.

 

School schedule

• Sept. 8: The junior varsity and varsity volleyball teams play Manhattan Christian at 5 p.m. in Clyde Park. Open house will be from 6:30 p.m. to 8 p.m. Thursday, Sept. 8, at the elementary school in Wilsall.

• Sept. 10: The junior high volleyball teams play in the Bozeman Tournament. The junior varsity and varsity volleyball teams play in the Sheridan Tournament. The varsity football teams play Denton/Geyser/Stanford at 1 p.m.  in Denton. 

• Sept. 13: The junior high volleyball teams play the Sleeping Giant Middle School starting at 4 p.m. in Livingston. The  junior varsity and varsity volleyball teams play Whitehall starting at 4:15 p.m. in Clyde Park.
