A diverse set of businesses have moved into the Lincoln School in the past few years and now that includes a salon.

Amy Schad Hair Studio is a new salon located on the ground floor of the building incorporating a blend of colorful furnishings as well as providing cuts and color for adults and children.

Schad said she was a stylist for a number of years before she quit to be a stay at home mom about four years ago. Now that her three children are a little older, she wanted to start working in her own space.

Before moving in, she said her studio was nothing but a sink, some lights that didn’t work and some water damage. With the help of her husband, Lucas Schad who also works in the building, she was able to update the paint as well as add artistic light fixtures and funky decorations.

The business opened its doors Feb. 8 and has become very popular.

“I am pretty much booked up at the moment,” Schad said.

On top of her current motivation to run her own business, she is trying to become a hair educator for L’Anza, a high-end, natural hair care company.

As part of her affiliation with the hair care company, Schad, who sports rasberry-colored locks gets to work with a wide array of vibrant hair colors which she said is her favorite. Blues, purples and even the popular gray hair colors are becoming a big part of her business.

Although her salon space is perfect for the amount of business she has right now, she hopes to eventually move into a larger space. Schad said she also wants to incoporate more hair options at her studio which would include a new way of perming hair that would be more wavy and less damaging than other methods.

Amy Schad Hair Studio is located in Room 110 at the Lincoln School. Her hours are flexible and by appointment only. For information, call 670-9810.
