Meigs Road Fires

Two small fires sparked along Meigs Road just northeast of Livingston Thursday afternoon, July 21, 2016. Officials said the fires are believed to have started when an electrocuted bird fell into the dry grass below a power line.  One fire burned from the power line along the road and into a small ravine packed with cottonwood trees, setting a few large trees ablaze. Further down the road, a fuse blew along the power line, falling to ground and setting dozens of nearby round bales on fire. Firefighters from multiple agencies responded quickly and are containing the blazes.
