Marjorie Lee Holland LaValley passed away peacefully at her home on April 3, 2019 at the age of 84. She was born in Livingston on May 2, 1934 to Arlington (Arlie) and Mildred Holland. At the age of 2 her family relocated to Spokane, Washington, where they lived for the next nine years. At that time they returned to Livingston, and she attended grade school and graduated from Park County High School in 1952.

After high school she attended and graduated from Comptometer School in Spokane, Washington. She married Jerome P. (Jerry) LaValley in Spokane, Washington on Nov. 22, 1952. They made their home in Livingston until January of 1954, when they moved to San Francisco, California while Jerry attended Dental School. They returned to Montana in the spring of 1957 and have made their home in Livingston.

Marge lost both of her parents before she was 20 years old and after her grandmother, Ingeborg Reeb, passed away, she and Jerry took in several of her younger brothers and sisters.

Marge loved flowers, and was well known in the community for her beautiful yard and flower gardens. Her yard was always packed full of many varieties of flowers and vegetables. She started all the flowers from seed in her own greenhouse. Her yard was featured many times on numerous garden tours. Many people would just stop by to see Marge’s gardens. She kept copious records of each year’s flower crop so she could plant her gardens for the following year.

She was an accomplished artist, and enjoyed oil painting. She was also a talented seamstress, and made many outfits for her children when they were young.

Marge’s greatest love was her children and her grandchildren. All of her grandsons chose to have their weddings in their Grama’s beautiful backyard.

Marge and Jerry had many fish frys and barbecues on the patio in their big backyard, and raised many litters of springer spaniels over the years. Marge especially loved her annual October trip to Arizona to visit her daughter, Loree, grandson, Jason, and their families.

She was a member of the American Lutheran Rivers of Faith Parish.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Arlie and Mildred Holland; brothers Ray Holland and Don Holland; sisters Janie Holland, Arlayne Lundgren and Marilyn Price; daughter Alana Rae; and her husband, Jerry LaValley.

She is survived by her daughters, Loree (Roger) Williams of Gilbert, Arizona, and Holly (Gerald) Happe of Livingston; son Dan (Lloyd Norris) LaValley of Livingston; sister Kaye (Harry) Kolkmann of Livingston; brothers Randy (Linda) Holland of Livingston, and Mike (Marge) Holland of Great Falls, Montana; and special niece, Brenda Rowell of Livingston. She is also survived by her grandsons, Chad (Jen) Roberts of Livingston, Kyle (Vicky) Roberts of Wilsall, Ryan Happe and great-granddaughter McKinnly Happe of Chubbuck, Idaho, Jason (Jordan) Losett and greatgranddaughter Grace Losett and great-grandson Alex Losett of Phoenix, Arizona; as well as numerous nieces and nephews.

We will miss her sweet smile, her hugs, and especially her kind heart.

The family requests that memorials be sent to Stafford Animal Shelter.

A celebration of her life will be held this summer when the grass is green and the flowers are in full bloom.
