Man missing in George Lake area

A team of about 40 search and rescue personnel on Tuesday continued looking for a Livingston man believed missing in the George Lake area of Paradise Valley.

Brad Spalding, 27, was first reported missing to the Livingston Police Department Friday evening, said Sheriff Alan Lutes Tuesday afternoon.

Spalding’s family first suspected he was missing Thursday morning, Lutes said.

Officials began searching the wilderness around George Lake Monday after receiving a tip at 11:30 a.m. that Spalding’s vehicle was at the trailhead, according to a Park County Sheriff’s Office press release.

Sheriff’s personnel, search and rescue teams, and fire responders from Park, Gallatin and Sweet Grass counties, as well as Yellowstone National Park emergency responders, have contributed to the search efforts. Rescuers have also deployed four search dog teams and have flown over the area in a helicopter, the release said.

Park County investigators are searching Spalding’s vehicle for evidence that might lead to his whereabouts. They are also requesting that anyone who has any information about Spalding’s recent activity call Detective Brian Green at 222-4181 or Park County Dispatch at 222-2050.

Searching in the George Lake area has not been easy because of the thick ground cover, Lutes said.

Without knowing what happened, search and rescue teams are currently considering all possibilities, he added.

“I hope we find him as soon as we can,” Lutes said.
