Take the time to smile behind your cloth mask

As much as I believe in the necessity of wearing masks, I can’t help but worry about one more aspect of our identity being lost. For so many folks, much has been stolen by the pandemic: one’s profession (and security), one’s friends (and comfort), one’s entertainment (and distraction), one’s volunteering (and sense of contributing). Now our smiles are hidden away, and we pass by one another like robots. If indeed the “eyes are the window to the soul”, then hopefully we will take the time to smile at one another behind the cloth — it will show in our eyes.
