Local nonprofit group hires new director

ASPEN, a local nonprofit organization, has recently hired a new executive director, Heidi Barrett.

ASPEN (Abuse Support & Prevention Education Network) provides support programs for victims of domestic or sexual abuse.

Barrett has past experience with area nonprofits as director of both the Park County Senior Center and development director for Western Sustainability Exchange.                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                       Heidi Barrett

 “I take the critical work of ASPEN to heart and am delighted to be working for an organization that so positively affects the lives of individuals who may be experiencing a crisis,” Barrett said in an ASPEN news release.

In 2015, the organization provided nearly 2,000 individual services to victims and their families, with shelters, crisis lines, support groups and advocacy, the release said.
