Matt’s Old Fashioned Butcher Shop and Deli in Livingston received awards in three categories at the 29th annual Montana Meat Processors Association Convention and Trade Show held in late April.

In the Cured Meat Championship contest, the shop was awarded Reserve Champion in the Whole Muscle Jerky, Innovative All Pork Item and Innovative All Beef Item categories, according to a Matt’s Old Fashioned Butcher Shop and Deli news release.

There were 17 different categories and 227 entries from 25 processing plants across the state participating in the competition.

The contest was judged by professors from University of Idaho and Montana State University as well as other industry professionals.

The three-day event in Jordan included other activities such as a pre-convention meat curing and tumbling workshop, several educational seminars, state inspection meetings and a two-day vendor trade show.

The Montana Meat Processors Association is a nonprofit trade organization representing and supporting the meat processing industry across Montana.
