Lillian Boryan Snodgrass

Lillian Snodgrass died Sept. 17, 2016, in Livingston. Lillian was born in Anaconda on May 22, 1920, to Milan (Michael) and Pera Boryan. She attended Anaconda schools and graduated from Anaconda High School in 1939.

On March 13, 1940, she married Monrad Edward Nelson in Anaconda, and during World War II she lived in Washington State and also in California. The couple had one son, Monrad Edward Nelson Jr. The senior Mr. Nelson passed away in 1948, and their son in 1960.

On May 22, 1955, Lillian married James W. Snodgrass in Anaconda, and the couple lived in Butte until 1958, when they moved to Great Falls where they resided for many years. Mr. Snodgrass died in 1981. Mrs. Snodgrass moved to Livingston in 2000.

Lillian worked as a hairdresser for many years in Anaconda, Deer Lodge and in Great Falls. She also worked for several years for Century 21 Real Estate in Great Falls. She served in numerous capacities as a volunteer for Camp Fire Girls, Job’s Daughters Bethel #4, Soroptomists International, Loves and Fishes, and RSVP in Livingston. She was a member of the original congregation of St. Francis Episcopal Church in Great Falls, and devoted many hours to secretarial service there. Lillian was a skilled seamstress and had many hobbies and talents.

Mrs. Snodgrass is survived by three daughters: Linda Roberts of Livingston and grandchildren Shane and Leah; Marie (Todd) Jennings of St. Regis and grandchildren James, Jeron and Tawny; and Marcia (Bill) Hill of Cove, Oregon, and grandchildren Tori, Cara, Sarah, Josh, Seth, Elise. She also has one stepson, James L. Snodgrass, of Arkansas. She was preceded in death by her parents and all six siblings: Rose Eror, Marie Gardner, Ann Campbell, Helen McMahon, Milan “Mickey” and George Boryan. Her stepdaughter, Joyce White, recently passed away. She is also survived by step-grandchildren, eight great-grandchildren and numerous nieces and nephews.

Cremation will be handled by Stenberg Funeral Home of Big Timber. Graveside services will take place at a later date. Mrs. Snodgrass will be interred at the Anaconda Cemetery. Memorials may be sent in lieu of flowers to the Livingston Angel Line at 414 E. Callender St.
