The International Fly Fishing Fair is coming to Livingston for the second year in a row next week, with the new Fish Fest featuring live music and even more activities.

Fly Fishers International has been putting on the fair for the last 53 years in cities across the country featuring workshops, river tours, and a litany of fish-related activities will now add to a two-day music and food festival to the mix.

Fly Fishing Fair coordinator Jessica Atherton said the addition of the festival is an extra way for curious and expert fisherman alike to have some fun and explore river activities

FishFest runs Friday and Saturday August 4 and 5 at the Livingston Civic Center and Miles Park  with vendors inside and outside, live music including Open Range, Ian Thomas and the Band of Drifters, and the Relics a new band from Great

Falls that play classic rock music.  There will be local breweries Friday and a Tap-Takeover beer event with a variety of Montana brews on Saturday, food, kids’ activities, fly tying demonstrations, casting clinic, casting video analysis, one-hour

seminars, auction and raffles, and a gear sale

Starting on Aug. 1, workshops cover a wide range of interests and skill levels and will be taught by renowned instructors and guides including Bob Jacklin, Wayne Luallen, Frank Johnson, Floyd Dean, Bruce Richards, and Molly Semenik, as well as local instructors Dan Gigone, Brant Oswald, and international instructors. Fly-casting and tying clinics will also be available.

The next Fly Fishing Fair will happen in Boise, Idaho next summer. Atherton said there will not be a Fish Fest at the event but they may include the festival again when the fair visits Livingston in the next few years.

Some of the fair registration has closed but those who want to participate in the workshops may try to get on the list at the high school. Fish Fest is $5 for the event and the Tap-Takeover will be $10 which includes a mug and two drink tickets.
