The Growling Old Men is comprised of John Lowell (guitar and vocals) and Ben Winship (mandolin and vocals).

The Growling Old Men will return to the Attic on Thursday, Feb. 13.

Presented by Mighty Fine Time Events, doors will open at 6:30 p.m., with the show beginning at 7:30 p.m., a news release from event organizers said.

The Growling Old Men features John Lowell (guitar and vocals) and Ben Winship (mandolin and vocals).

“The two veterans of the Rocky Mountain bluegrass and Americana scene present a relaxed set of virtuosic musicianship and tight harmonies — informed equally by the music of the Appalachian hills and the western plains,” the release said.

For this show, honorary Growling Old Man David Thompson will join the duo on upright bass and vocals.

“In concert, the Growling Old Men are both engaging and spontaneous as they strive to blend simplicity with complexity; all with good tone and a warm sense of humor,” the release said.

For nearly 30 years they’ve played at festivals, concerts and workshops across the U.S., Canada and Europe, and have four duo recordings to their credit.

Additionally, in 2019, Lowell released, “This Long Stretch of Gravel” and Winship released two new projects — “Acorns” and “Toolshed.”

This summer, the duo will  perform at festivals in Idaho, Utah, Montana and at the legendary Kerrville Folk Festival in Texas.

Both Winship and Lowell are in high demand as workshop leaders and teachers and have instructed students all over the world.

The concert at The Attic will be a Co-CD release celebration of all the new musical projects.
