Grief Share to help Shields Valley residents

A special Grief Share event called “Surviving the Holidays” is planned for 1:30 p.m. Saturday, Dec. 16, at the Shields Valley Bible Church. For more information call 686-4708. This is designed for those who have recently lost a loved one and will be experiencing the holidays without the loved one for the first time, but all are welcome.

• The Bank of the Rockies will be serving coffee, cookies and cider on Fridays through Christmas, Dec. 15 and 22. There will also be a weekly prize drawing on Fridays. Everyone is welcome to come in and join the bank staff in celebrating the season and for customer appreciation.

• The Shields Valley High School students in the Close-Up program will be wrapping “gifts for tips” from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. Sunday, Dec.  17, at Crazy Mountain Momma’s Espresso. Close-Up does a civic trip to Washington, D.C., and this is a fund raiser for the trip.

• A Family Christmas Celebration will be held at 6 p.m. Sunday, Dec. 17, at the Wilsall Community Church. There will be music, readings and more with refreshments following the program.

• The Shields Valley Book Club meets at 1:30 p.m. Monday, Dec. 18,  at the home of Pearl D’Ewart northwest of Wilsall. The book being discussed this month is “The Boys in the Boat” by Daniel James Brown.

• The Shields Valley Senior Citizen potluck starts at 1 p.m. Thursday, Dec. 21, at the senior center in Wilsall. There will be  readings. This is the Christmas dinner with the center providing the ham, and volunteers to bring potatoes and rolls. Others may bring vegetables, salads or desserts.

• Kindermusik is coming soon to the Shields Valley. Does your child like to sing, dance or just get moving? Kindermusik with Miss B is a great way for your child to do just that and so much more. She encourages your child while building their confidence through imagination, music and movement. Our Winter/Spring semester will be starting Monday, Jan. 8, 2018, at the Shields Valley Senior Center in Wilsall. Classes will be held weekly on Monday afternoons for ages 18 months to 5 years. • The Clyde Park Bridge Club met Dec. 6 at Clyde Park Tavern and Cafe. with Ken DeBoer as hostess. Prize winners were Kathy DeBoer, high; and Bob Eyman, bingo.

• Wilsall Women’s Pinochle Club met Monday afternoon at the Shields Valley Senior Center. Prize winners were Jean Landers, high; Marie Smith, low; and Linda Wilson, traveling.

School Schedule• Dec. 14: The high school basketball teams play at Gardiner with the boys junior varsity starting at 4 p.m.

• Dec. 16: The elementary and junior high boys play basketball starting at 10:30 a.m. in Gardiner. The high school basketball teams play in West Yellowstone starting with the boys junior varsity at 1 p.m.

• Dec. 21: The last day of school before winter break is a regular scheduled day. The boys and girls varsity basketball teams play Roberts starting at 5:30 p.m. in Clyde Park
