The Park High Ranger football team played its first road game of the season on Friday. The Rangers travelled to Lewistown for a game against the Fergus Eagles, losing 35-0.

Now 0-5 on the season after two forfeits to start the season, the Rangers struggled to stop the Golden Eagles’ rushing attack.

Fergus finished the game with 345 yards of total offense, with 287 of those yards coming on the ground.

The Rangers, meanwhile, were forced to pass more than they would have liked after getting down early, which allowed the Golden Eagles to send blitzers after the quarterback.

Park finished with negative-34 rushing yards thanks to 13 sacks by Fergus in the game. The Rangers leading rusher was Warren Hanson, who had 17 yards on four carries. Dalton Walker gained four yards on eight carries.

Quarterback Rydell Floyd completed 11 of his 22 passes for 144 yards. Floyd’s favorite target, Brock Peterson, caught six passes and eclipsed 100 yards receiving for the second straight game. Peterson finished with 112 receiving yards, and defensively he had an interception, his third of the season.

Matt Netley caught three passes for 18 yards, while Walker and Hanson each caught one pass.

Defensively, the Rangers were able to force two turnovers.

Tyler Laverty recovered a fumble in addition to Peterson’s interception. Dawson Purkett led the Rangers with 11 tackles in the game, giving him 23 for the season. Elton Burns increased his team-leading tackle total to 34 for the season with seven stops in Friday’s game.

Park’s next game will be at home against Havre, and that game will be homecoming for the Rangers, starting at 7 p.m.
