Gardiner gets first win over Sheridan

The Gardiner Bruins girls basketball team went 1-1 over the weekend, beating the Sheridan Panthers on Friday, 59-24, and losing to the Lone Peak Big Horns on Saturday, 51-46. 
 
Guards Brook Russell and Megan Wickham led the way for the Bruins against the Panthers, scoring 21 and 15 points, respectively. Russell added eight rebounds, the second highest on the team behind Alexis McDonald’s 11. 
 
Against the Big Horns, Russell had another big night, scoring 19 and adding nine boards. Kyndra Long and Josie Thomas tied for the team-high in rebounds with 11 apiece. 
 
The Gardiner offense had a big weekend, with Friday’s 59 points being a new season high, while Saturday’s 51 is second. 
 
The Bruins improve to 2-7 and hit the road Friday and Saturday to take on Manhattan Christian and Broadview/Lavina, respectively.
