Gardiner falls in overtime to West Yellowstone, 48-43

The Gardiner Bruins girls basketball team fell in overtime to the West Yellowstone Wolverines Thursday night, losing 48-43, and dropping to 1-6 on the year. 
The Bruins were down 30-19 at the half, but put together a stellar fourth quarter where they out-scored the Wolverines 15-3 to take a 34-33 lead. The offense came to a halt for both teams in the fourth quarter, with both teams scoring a combined 13 points and having a 40-40 game going into overtime. 
West Yellowstone’s Bekah Everest put the team on her back, scoring six of her 19 points in overtime while making the team’s three lone field goals in the period. Gardiner was held to just three points in OT.  
Senior guard Brook Russell led the Bruins in scoring with 17 on five made field goals while shooting 7-of-10 from the free throw line. Everest’s 19 points was the game-high, while West Yellowstone’s Danna Ochoa added 14. 
Gardiner had a 12-day break before traveling to Sheridan Jan. 5.
