Easter comes to Shields Valley

Easter events in Shields Valley churches are as follows:

Maundy Thursday service is at 7 p.m. April 13 at Shields River Lutheran Church in Wilsall.

Maundy Thursday service is at 7 p.m. April 13 at Shields Valley United Methodist Church in Clyde Park.

Good Friday service is at 10:30 a.m. April 14 at Shields River Lutheran Church in Wilsall.

Good Friday Services are at 3 p.m. April 14 at Saint Margaret’s Catholic Church in Clyde Park.

The Wilsall Community Church will hold a Good Friday service at 6 p.m. April 14.

Easter worship is at 9 a.m. April 16 at Shields River Lutheran Church in Wilsall. A potluck breakfast and Easter egg hunt will follow  worship.

Easter service starts at 8:15 a.m. with breakfast and worship at 9 a.m. April 16 at Shields Valley United Methodist Church in Clyde Park.

There will be an Easter potluck breakfast at 9:30 a.m. and the worship service following at 11 a.m. at Shields Valley Bible Church in Clyde Park. There will be no Sunday School that morning and no evening service on Easter Sunday.

At the Wilsall Community Church Easter Sunday activities start with a breakfast from 8 a.m. to 9:30 a.m., followed by worship service at 10:45 a.m. There is no Sunday school and no evening service.

Easter Worship is at 11 a.m. April 16 at Saint Margaret’s Catholic Church in Clyde Park.

Club news

The Shields Valley Book Club meets at 1:30 p.m. Monday, April 17, at Shields River Lutheran Church in Wilsall. The book being discussed this month is “The Absolutely True Diary of a Part-Time Indian” by Sherman Alexie.

The Build a Better Wilsall Foundation meeting is at 6 p.m. Monday, April 17, at the Shields Valley Senior Center in Wilsall.

Events

• A baby shower for Lacey Arthun will be held at 1 p.m. Saturday, April 15, at the Vault Restaurant in Wilsall. She is registered for gifts for a boy at babylist.com.

• The Shields Valley Senior Citizen potluck starts at 12:30 p.m. Thursday, April 20, at the senior center in Wilsall. There will be special music and readings.

Honors

• Winners at the Clyde Park Women’s Club Easter Egg Hunt Saturday were Delancy Hackworth and Kai Gilmour for ages zero to four; and Angela Armstrong and Kyla Mather for those ages five to eight.

• Shields Valley students on the third quarter regular honor roll are: seventh graders-Josie Boyd, Perry Dominick, Morgan Fairchild, Dylan Flatt, Milan Moscone, Wyatt Rooney, Aspen Sanderson and Gratia Somerville; eighth graders-Zachary Danielson, Aidan Jenkins, Kayla Johnson, Fin Sexton and Sage Willis; ninth graders-Jaiden Gilbert, Gabe Mills and Karlee Worthington; tenth graders-Jack Marshall; eleventh graders-Lauren Flatt, Leah Guse, Marissa Marshall, Morgan Raw and Brook Russell; and twelfth graders-Samantha Brandal, Cheyenne Darkow and Colton Jones.Shields Valley students on the third quarter high honor roll are: seventh graders-Lyom Bullard, Emma Woodruff and Haven Sager; eighth graders-Reace Lannen and Gabriella Lord; ninth graders-Seth George; tenth graders-Joseph Bennett and Molly Engle; eleventh graders-Briley Stark; and twelfth graders-Brock Peterson.

• Caitlin Boyd, a  2015 graduate of Shields Valley High School, graduated from the Academy of Cosmetology in Bozeman in January of 2017. She has passed all the state board of cosmetology exams and has her license to work. She is at the Upper Cut Salon in Livingston working Tuesdays through Fridays from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. and Saturdays from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. For a hair appointment or facial waxing call her at 222-8019.

Cards

• The Clyde Park Bridge Club met April 5 at Clyde Park Tavern and Cafe with Ken DeBoer as host. Prize winners were Shirley Wilson, high; and Bob Eyman, bingo.

• Wilsall Women’s Pinochle Club met Monday afternoon at the Shields Valley Senior Center. Prize winners were Linda Wilson, high; Jean Landers, low; and Dorothy Lucas, traveling.

• Winners of the April 11 Senior Citizens card party were Dorothy Lucas, first; Jean Skillman, second; Marie Smith, low; and Georgia Hogenson, traveling.

Guests, visits

Erma and Melvin Goffena attended the Saturday wedding of Jenny Goffena and Gary McCleerey in Lolo. Jenny is the daughter of Marvin and Joy Goffena of Stevensville and the granddaughter of Erma Goffena.

School Schedule    

• April 13-17: There is no school during spring break.

• April 13: The junior high track team participates in the Livingston track meet starting at 10 a.m.

• April 18: School resumes. The track team participates in the Columbus track  meet.
