A Park County Diaper Depot is set up at the Community Closet as a way for people to donate and receive supplemental diapers.

“The diaper depot is going to be a great resource for members of our community. The depot will offer supplemental diapers to families once a month helping caregivers ensure their children can attend daycare, stay healthy, and be comfortable,” said Park County Health Department Women, Infants, and Children Director Janelle Bowden, RN in a Community Closet news releasd.

According to the release, disposable diapers are a requirement at day care facilities and are not covered by supplemental programs, so working families on a budget struggle to cover this $100 a month per child expense.

The Community Closet is a drop-off spot for diapers because it is centrally located at 416 East Park Street and open seven days a week from 10 a.m. to 5:30 p.m. Packages of disposable diapers in all sizes are needed, and tax-deductible receipts are available at the Community Closet when you drop them off.

The Park County Diaper Depot is also a recipient of a recent Community Closet grant. Bowden said in the release that she was very happy to receive the money in order to help Livingston residents. Diapers are often something that can be overlooked when people think of giving back to their community.

There’s an estimated need for 4,600 diapers a month for Park County parents in need, and participants will apply for the program, and volunteer at a fundraising event or attend a budgeting class. This program will offer more than diapers, said Bowden in the release, “We not only want to supply diapers for families, but want to be a place for them to find other resources if needed.” She adds, “Livingston Healthcare and Community Health Partners have also been invaluable partners in this project and have helped us get it off the ground.”

In addition to the Community Closet location, diapers can be dropped off at the Park County Health Department, 414 E Callender Street in Livingston, and there will be booths at the Farmer’s Market this summer. The Park County Diaper Depot should be up and running by September.
