The day that the Fifth Street rail crossing will close due to street paving work has changed again. It was set for Friday, but is now planned for Monday, June 7.

“Western Municipal Construction notified the City yesterday that the paving company is finishing another project and was not able to pave today as planned,” a city news release said. “Barring any more changes, the paving of North Fifth Street between Front and Park, and North Yellowstone between Chinook and Front is now scheduled for Monday, June 7th.”

Crews will need to close the North Fifth Street railroad crossing and North Yellowstone Street to traffic from about 9 a.m. to 6 p.m.

The traffic light at B and Park Street has been lengthened for north- and south-bound traffic.

“This is the final closure the City will need to do on the Fifth Street crossing this year,” the release said.

The city issued these travel advisories during the closure:

• Residents who live east of North Main Street and those in the North hill area who are traveling down North Seventh Street and North Yellowstone Street using Chinook Street, are recommended to travel down East Gallatin Street to the Bennett Street crossing.

• Star Addition and Fleshman Creek residents using Front Street are recommended to use the underpass. Southbound traffic is recommended not to make a left-hand turn onto Park Street, to help flow of traffic.
