Buddy Nelson

Buddy Nelson, 54, of Burlington, Wyoming, and formerly of Livingston, stepped into glory after passing away at Billings Clinic on April 4, 2019, taking with him his infectious laughter, love of life, good heart and unyielding smile.

Naturally relatable, he made anyone feel comfortable with who they were. His immovable love for his wife, children and grandkids solidified strength to his family. His heart treasured our country, its troops, our God and his family.

Buddy is survived by his wife, Dawn Nelson; sons Dallas (Frankie) Nelson and Clay Nelson; stepson Steven (DeOnna) Salazar; unrelated son Adrian House; grandchildren Jaxon and Jayden Nelson, and Grayson and Haily Salazar; stepmother Bobbi Lou Nelson; sisters Mary Kate Nelson and Michelle (John) Brockway; brothers Tom and Bruce (April) Nelson; sisters-in-law DeeAnn (Ed) Ritzman and Darcy Miracle; aunts Nancy Meyer, Cindy Murphy and Micael Murphy; and uncles Dick Murphy, Dave (Cynde) Nelson, Dan (Susan) Nelson and Dick Nicholls. Buddy also leaves behind a number of cousins, nephews and nieces who will miss him dearly.

He was preceded in death by his father, Larry Nelson; mother, Barbara Nelson; older brother Allyn Nelson; stepson Tyler Salazar; father-in-law Jim King; mother-in-law Sharon King; and brother-in-law Darren Guffy.

The family would also like to recognize and thank the Gormley family of the RG Ranch and the community of Burlington, Wyoming for their close friendship, support and generosity.

Buddy finally landed his dream job and became invaluable to owners Randy and Erik in their overall operation. It was refreshing to have someone who never complained, so the ranch benefited from his great attitude, hard work and versatility. It was on this ranch where he thrived. His famous “big wave” welcomed anyone who was fortunate to receive that gift of greeting.

A gathering to remember Buddy will be held at 2 p.m. on June 22 near the horseshoe pits at Sacajawea Park, one of Buddy’s favorite places.
