The 2017 Holiday Farmers Market will be held from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. on Saturday, Dec. 2 at the Livingston Civic Center. Admission is free. There will be holiday vendors, raffles, door prizes, kids activities and photos with Santa Paws by the Stafford Animal Shelter. 

• Yellowstone Ballet Company will present its 27th annual production of “The Nutcracker” at 4 p.m. on Saturday, Dec. 9 and Sunday, Dec. 10 at Sleeping Giant Middle School. Audiences will delight in YBC’s staging of the story of Clara and her Nutcracker Prince with additional choreography by Nikita Kusurgashev. General admission bleacher seats are $18 for adults and $12 for children. A limited number of chair seats are available for $25 by emailing yellowstoneballet@gmail.com. Tickets can be purchased online at www.yellowstoneballet.info; Conley’s Books & Music at the Shane; or Yellowstone Ballet Company, 109 S. B St. in Livingston.  A service fee of $2 will be added to tickets purchased at the door.

The Blue Slipper Theatre will hold its annual Gala Event on Saturday, Dec. 9, 2017. The theater will announce its 2018 season, award its annual “Donnie” awards and celebrate the year in review. The theme this year will be “A Night at the Donnie’s.” Formal dress is encouraged. Tickets for the gala are $35 per person and $60 per couple, and are available by calling 222-7720. Drinks and hors d’oeuvres will be served at 6 p.m. The program starts at 7 p.m. 

The Livingston Film Series will present a free screening of the film “Queen of Katwe”  at 7 p.m. on Sunday, Dec. 10 at the Shane Lalani Center for the Arts in Livingston.  Living in the slum of Katwe in Kampala, Uganda, is a constant struggle for 10-year-old Phiona and her family. Her world changes one day when she meets a missionary who teaches children how to play chess.  A reception precedes each film at 6:30 p.m. Admission is always free but donations are gratefully accepted.
