Briefs Feb. 13

• The trustees for Park County Rural Fire District #1 will have a regular monthly meeting at 6 p.m. Monday, Feb. 13. The meeting will be held in the training room at 304 E. Park St. A full agenda will be available at the station on Thursday, Feb. 9.

• The Livingston Food Resource Center is now accepting applicants for the next Culinary Training Program. This free class is offered for individuals interested in developing  a career in the food industry. It will run Feb. 16 through April 20, Tuesdays and Thursdays from 6 to 9 p.m. Taught by professional chefs, the program covers safe food handling; knife skills, cooking methods for meats, stocks and soups, baking and plating. It also includes tours of local restaurant kitchens, job interview prep and ServSafe certification.

• Big Sky Retired Educators Association will meet Friday, Feb. 17 at the Holiday Inn on Baxter Lane. The no-host lunch will begin at 11:30 a.m. followed at noon by Bozeman High student presenters under the direction of Adam Thane. Attendees will have an opportunity to sign up for the March 9 Montana Retired Educators Day in Helena. The public is welcome. Call Marilyn at 579-8711 with any questions.

• AARP Tax Aide is offering free tax preparation and electronic filing for seniors and others with low to moderate income on Thursdays starting Feb. 2 at the Park County Senior Center. For more information, call Betsey Kiley for an appointment at 222-0435.

• Park High School’s Chamber Choir will present its annual Valentine’s Show and Dessert Night on Monday, Feb. 13 and Tuesday Feb. 14 in the Park High School RecPlex. Desserts will be served at 6 p.m. and the variety show will begin at 7 p.m. Admission is $10 for students and $15 for adults, and is available at the door. For more information, call PHS at 222-0448
