The Shields Valley Rebels boys basketball team fell to 1-5 on Friday after losing to the Lone Peak Bighorns 34-26.
The first half saw the Rebels go through a scoring drought, putting up a mere 12 points and nursing a 23-12 deficit going into halftime. Lone Peak’s Jackson Wade led all first-half scorers with 13, while Hunter Greenfield led Shields Valley with six.
The Rebel offense came out in the third quarter and put up its only double-digit quarter of the game, scoring 10 and cutting Lone Peak’s lead to 31-22. The fourth quarter saw both teams struggle to score, with Shields Valley scoring three and Lone Peak scoring four. Despite outscoring Lone Peak 14-11 in the second half, Shields Valley couldn’t dig itself out of the hole dug in the first half.
Wade was the lone Bighorn to score in double figures, putting up 17 points. For the Rebels, Greenfield finished with 10 and Aiden Jenkins added seven, five of which came in the second half.
Shields Valley will have to wait until Jan. 5 to redeem itself with a home game against Townsend. Tip-off is set for 5:30 p.m.
