Events

• The Shields Valley Book Club meets at 1:30 p.m. Monday, Feb. 19, at

the home of Pearl D’Ewart northwest of Wilsall. The book being discussed this month is “The Tea Girl of Hummingbird Lane” by Lisa See.

• The Shields Valley Senior Citizens potluck dinner starts at 1 p.m. Thursday, Feb. 15, at the senior center in Wilsall. There will be special music and readings.

Ash Wednesday will be celebrated with imposition of ashes and Holy Communion at 7 p.m. Thursday, Feb. 15, at Shields River Lutheran Church.

• Throughout Lent worship and soup suppers will be held at 6 p.m. Thursdays at Shields River Lutheran Church. The suppers start Feb. 22 and run through March 22.

• The Shields Valley School reading program Books for Bikes closes with an Awards Assembly Tuesday, Feb. 20. Books and bikes will be given to kindergarten through third grade students at 9 a.m. and to fourth though sixth grade students at 10:30 a.m. at the Wilsall school gym. The Masonic Lodge of Wilsall and the Women of Wilsall are the sponsors of this program.

• The top four winners of the Shields Valley Spelling Bee Remy Sexton, Shane Taylor, Nora Dominick, Sebastein Meyer, will participate in the County Spelling Bee at 1 p.m. Wednesday, Feb. 21 at the Dulcie Theatre

in the Shane Lalani Center for the Arts in Livingston

Cards

• The Clyde Park Bridge Club met Feb. 7 at Clyde Park Tavern and Cafe with Loraine Eyman as hostess. Prize winners were Kathy DeBoer, high; and Joyce Sarrazin, bingo.

• Wilsall Women’s Pinochle Club met Monday afternoon at the Shields Valley Senior Center. Prize winners were Linda Wilson, high; Marge Briggs, low; and Georgia Hogenson, traveling.

• Winners of the Feb. 13 Senior Citizens card party were Marie Smith, first; Jean Skillman, second; and Georgia Hogenson, low.

School Schedule

• Feb. 15-17: The District Basketball Tournament is at Manhattan Christian. The junior high girls play in the Sleeping Giant Middle School Tournament in Livingston.

• Feb. 15: This is an early release day with students eating lunch at school and buses running at noon.

• Feb. 20: The FFA District competitions are in Gardiner.

• Feb. 21: The County Spelling Bee is at 1 p.m. at the Dulcie Theatre in the Shane Lalani Center for the Arts in Livingston.

• Feb. 22-24: The Divisional Basketball Tournament is in Hamilton.
