Annual fishing derby set for Saturday

Josh Culver of the Montana Department of Fish, Wildlife and Parks on Wednesday stocks the Sacagawea Park lagoon with Yellowstone cutthroat trout in preparation for Saturday’s annual fishing derby.

Dive into the Annual Fishing Derby from 8 a.m. to 11 a.m. on Saturday at the Sacagawea Park lagoon.

Ages 3 to 12 can register to be a contestant. Registration begins at 8 a.m. at the Civic Center. The cost is a dollar.

Two hundred and fifty four Yellowstone cutthroat were stocked into the lagoon to prepare for the derby.

Prizes for the biggest to the smallest fish will be awarded.

Every contestant will receive a prize upon registration. Hundreds of dollars worth of prizes will be given away in a drawing.

Special prizes will be given to the four largest fish. Local businesses donated the prizes.

The derby is sponsored by the Livingston Firefighters in association with Yellowstone River trout hatchery in Big Timber.
