American Legion Post 23 to honor Vietnam veterans

The American Legion Post 23 will be honoring  Vietnam Veterans and their families with a dinner and dessert event at 6 p.m. Vietnam Veterans Day Wednesday, March 29, at the Legion Hall in Livingston.
The event is open to other veterans and the public. It will be a time to listen, learn and honor all who served. Vietnam Veterans Day was established in1973 by President Nixon.

Fire Department fundraiser
The annual Clyde Park City Volunteer Fire Department fundraiser dinner is Friday, March 31, at the Clyde Park Community Hall. Hors d’oeuvres start at 5 p.m. with dinner at 6 p.m. There will be a live auction with Jimbo Logan as auctioneer. Music by the Knotty Pine Band will perform from 5 p.m. to 8 p.m. Dinner choices are prime rib or salmon for cost of $30 per person. Reservations are requested by Thursday, March 30. Upcoming events
• Shields Valley Parent Teacher Conferences are from 4 p.m. to 9 p.m. Thursday, March 23 at both schools.
• A bridal shower honoring Courtney Arthun is planned for 3 p.m. Sunday, March 26, at the Wilsall Dance Hall.

Basketball camp
Basketball Camp for boys and girls combined will be June 5 through 8 at the Shields Valley School in Clyde Park. The three sections are for the grades students will be entering in the fall of 2017.
Kindergarten through second grade will be from 8 a.m. to 9:30 a.m. for $40. Third and fourth grade will be from 9:45 a.m. to 11:45 a.m. for $40. Fifth through eighth grade will be from 12:30 p.m. to 3:30 p.m. for $45.

Club news
The Brackett Creek Women’s Club met March 15 at the home of Kay Hays with 11 members present. To help the new members get better acquainted, they went around the group introducing themselves and telling where they live. Dues were collected. Box tops, soup labels and card fronts were turned in. They discussed the Little Library. The April 19 meeting will be at the home of Cathy Dowdell and the May 17 meeting at the home of Sonja Loesser. Cathy Dowdell gave a program on the use and safety of essential oils. Everyone made a massage oil and bath scrub to take home. Rosemary Newman gave barley recipes. A chocolate pudding dessert was enjoyed. Cathy Dowdell won the dore prize, a package of personal care products.

Cards
• The Clyde Park Bridge Club met March 15 at Clyde Park Tavern and Cafe, with Penny Arnold as hostess. Prize winners were Kathy DeBoer, high; and Bob Eyman, bingo.
• Winners of the Feb. 21 Senior Citizens card party were Marge Briggs, first; Marie Smith, second; and Jean Landers, low.

School schedule
• March 22-25: The State FFA Convention is in Great Falls.
• March 23: Parent Teacher Conferences are from 4 p.m. to 9 p.m.
