Livingston’s Ace Hardware is building a spot for all its outdoor items.

Previously, those items were kept in the space between the store and Shopko. With new construction taking place next to the store, behind the Yellowstone Park Gateway Mall sign, all that is about to change.

“Everything we have off to the side … they’re now going to be inside that fenced concrete pad,” said Haley Dowdell, marketing manager for the store.

The pad, which will house the 10,000-square-foot lawn and garden center, will also include the greenhouse, a shed to protect some items, a place for cars to pull up and load — and a cash register to make purchases right there.

In addition, there will be a crosswalk from the store to the lawn and garden center.

“It can get a little bit crazy in this parking lot,” so Ace tried to shape the pad to slow down traffic, said Store Manager Jodi Hames.

Work is expected to be completed by Tuesday.
