Former major league pitcher Matt Morris will be in Livingston tonight as his Big Sky team faces off against the Livingston Rockies. Morris pitched in the major league for 12 years compiling a 121-92 record. His career included placing third in the 2001 Cy Young voting with a 22-8 record for the Cardinals. In 1997 he won the National League pitcher Rookie of the Year award, the 2001 comeback Player of the Year award and was a two-time National League All-Star. Morris is best known for his pitching duels against Curt Schilling in the 2001 NLDS which the Cardinals lost 3-2 to the eventual World Series champion Arizona Diamondbacks. He’s also known for giving life long Cubs fans nightmares as he came close to pitching a no-hitter against the Cubs at Wrigley Field in 2002.
