In 1971 the 26th Amendment was passed lowering the voting age to 18. Charles Manson was convicted for the Manson Family Murders. Watergate was still a year away. George Harrison released “My Sweet Lord.” The internet had yet to be created. Muhammad Ali and Joe Frazier met for their first of three epic boxing matches. The Ed Sullivan show came to an end. “Patton” won the Academy Award for best movie. Gasoline cost 36 cents per gallon. Milk was still being delivered by milk trucks and left on the back steps in glass bottles. The war in Vietnam was still raging. And at the Montana high school state track championship Park High senior Greg Liebsch set a school record when he leaped 22-5.00 feet to bring home first place. A record which stood for 51-years until this past weekend when Park High senior Payton Kokot won first place at state with a leap of 22-07.00 to break Liebsch’s long standing record.
