BELGRADE — The Livingston Rockies faced off Thursday night against Manhattan for the Babe Ruth league championship. Although the league consists of 16 and under players, Thursday night’s game turned into a game for men. The Rockies weathered a furious comeback by Manhattan which tied the game in the sixth. Taking advantage of a passed ball, Wister Tewell scored in the bottom of the sixth to give the Rockies a one-run lead. Ben Cipriani smoked six pitches past Manhattan’s final two batters as the Rockies claimed Livingston’s first Babe Ruth championship since 2012, winning 9-8.
